Édouard Glissant Across the Languages and Disciplines, MLL Departmental Lecture Series, 2027-28
About the Event
Date listed is provisional and will be announced.
How has Édouard Glissant influenced disciplines beyond Francophone postcolonial studies? To what extent and to what ends is he read outside of Anglophone and Francophone academia? This lecture series aims to chart the reach of Glissant’s ideas across our languages and disciplines by bringing leading scholars, artists, and public intellectuals to Florida State University whose work reflects the continuing influence of concepts such as Relation, Creolization, Opacity, and the Tout-monde. The series aims to understand the enduring relevance of Glissant’s vision for understanding cultural and global interconnectedness.
MLL faculty are invited to propose speakers from their own disciplines in a collaborative project that aims to promote connection and cohesion across our various programs. Please send proposals (biography of proposed speaker, with a short explanation of their uses of Glissant’s work) to wbenoit@fsu.edu by Jan. 31, 2027.
