Celebrating 25 years of Mémoire d’encrier, one of the most influential independent publishers in the Francophone world, this international conference honors the remarkable achievements of poet, editor, and cultural visionary Rodney Saint-Éloi. Bringing together scholars, writers, translators, editors, and artists, the event explores the press’s transformative role in amplifying voices from Haiti, Québec, Indigenous communities, Africa, and the Caribbean. Join us as we reflect on a quarter century of literary innovation, cultural dialogue, and community-building across borders and languages. More details to follow.
Édouard Glissant Across the Languages and Disciplines
Faculty Lecture Series, 2027-28
How has Édouard Glissant influenced the sciences, humanities, arts, and public life? This innovative lecture series showcases the remarkable reach of Glissant’s ideas by bringing leading scholars, artists, and public intellectuals to Florida State University whose work reflects the continuing influence of concepts such as Relation, Creolization, Opacity, and the Tout-monde. Spanning disciplines from literature and environmental studies to architecture, philosophy, and digital humanities, the series reveals the enduring relevance of Glissant’s vision for understanding cultural diversity and global interconnectedness.
FSU faculty are invited to propose speakers from their own disciplines in a collaborative project that aims to promote collaboration across the university.
