How has Édouard Glissant influenced the sciences, humanities, arts, and public life? This innovative lecture series showcases the remarkable reach of Glissant’s ideas by bringing leading scholars, artists, and public intellectuals to Florida State University whose work reflects the continuing influence of concepts such as Relation, Creolization, Opacity, and the Tout-monde. Spanning disciplines from literature and environmental studies to architecture, philosophy, and digital humanities, the series reveals the enduring relevance of Glissant’s vision for understanding cultural diversity and global interconnectedness.

FSU faculty are invited to propose speakers from their own disciplines in a collaborative project that aims to promote collaboration across the university. Please send proposals (biography of proposed speaker, with a short explanation of their uses of Glissant’s work), to wbenoit@fsu.edu, by Jan. 31, 2027.
