Sarkozy’s France, 2007-2012
International Symposium
February 20-21, 2012
Open to the Public
How has France changed under the presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy? With the end of the five-year term to which he was elected in 2007 now approaching, what has he achieved? Is France stronger or weaker, more united or more divided, than when he took office? How has he been viewed across the spectrum of French society: in the media, among intellectuals, in the banlieues, across class, gender, generational and ethnic divides? How does Sarkozy’s leadership of France compare with that of his predecessors? What has been his role in French relations with the rest of the world? These are among the questions which participants in this international colloquium will address.
